PERFECT STING

Always B Miki colt capped his perfect ten-for-ten Dan Patch Award winning season when he held on in the first win deadheat in Breeders Crown history for fellow Hall of Famers Dave Miller and Joe Holloway. Perfect Sting also won the Kentucky Sires Stakes Final in 1:49.2 and an International Stallion Stake division in 1:49.1. Miller and Holloway were second with his sire in the 2014 Pace.

Not on the eligible list, but this talented Always B Miki colt could supplement. He won 10 of 13 and a division leading $583,069, and took a mark of 1:50. His major wins came in the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes Final, Elevation, Bluegrass & International Stallion Stake divisions and Matron Stake. Ron Burke was second in 2018 with longshot Dorsoduro Hanover. Yannick Gingras scored his second Pace in 2020 with Horse of the Year Tall Dark Stranger.

Another promising big leaguer for Team Burke, this Somebeachsomewhere colt developed into a very consistent performer and earned $482,275. He rallied for a win deadheat with Perfect Sting in the Breeders Crown, and dominated the Kindergarten Classic from post ten, both wins coming in 1:50.2.

ALWAYS A MIKI

2020 Trainer of the Year Nancy Takter looks to go back-to-back with another son of Always B Miki on our list. This colt blossomed late in his freshman season and pulled a 7-1 upset in the Governor’s Cup in 1:50.2 with two-time Driver of the Year Dexter Dunn.

Trainer Tony Alagna has sent out one of two Somebeachsomewhere-sired Pace winners in Captaintreacherous in 2013. This colt could make it three. Exploit pulled off a shocking upset in the Metro in 1:50.4 and capped his freshman season with a second in Governor’s Cup, pushing his earnings to $389,470.

BAYFIELD BEACH

Somebeachsomewhere adds to his strong contingent and looks for his third Pace winner. Meanwhile, trainer Brian Brown has had a second, a third and a fifth in three Pace tries. This colt just missed in the Metro and finished third in the Matron Stake.

Trainer Tony Alagna adds to his arsenal with this colt from the first crop of Betting Line, who won divisions of Pennsylvania Sires Stakes, Nassagaweya and Champlain Stakes, plus a Metro elimination and took a mark of 1:50.3.

SOUTHWIND PETYR

Trainer Mark Harder is still looking for a follow up to massive 2004 upsetter Holborn Hanover. This New Jersey bred by American Ideal was timed in 1:50 when he finished a close second to Southwind Gendry in Red Mile Grand Circuit action, was also runner up in the Matron Stake and took a mark of 1:51 at The Big M.

LITERL LAD HANOVER

Team Burke have a third colt in our Top Ten and Somebeachsomewhere has a fourth in Literl Lad Hanover. He was timed in 1:49.2 finishing second in a Bluegrass division, flashed a :25.4 in a Breeders Crown elimination, and picked up fourth in the Matron.

The fifth Somebeachsomewhere colt to round out our Top Ten was based in Ontario for trainer Amanda Fine. He upset a Metro elimination in 1:51.4, was second to Southwind Gendry in a Bluegrass division, and took a mark of 1:50.2 in the International Stallion Stakes. Female trainers have won the last two Meadowlands Pace trophies.
