The winter-book Pace favorite will make his second start of the season Saturday at The Big M, facing older foes in the 11th race from post 5. "If I had my druthers," said Holloway, "I'd go up against 3-year-olds. Against older horses, you have to give a bit more. But he's in it to win it." A week from Saturday, the son of ALWAYS B MIKI will be at The Meadows for the Sire Stakes. Last Race: 6/5 | M1 | Qualifier | 1st (1:48.4)

Rocked the clock at Scioto to the tune of 1:48.4 to vault back into the Top 10 at No. 5. His trainer has always believed in this son of BRING ON THE BEACH. Burke: "I knew he was good. It's not the time. It's how he did it. Ear plugs in, wrapped up. That's a 1:47 mile at The Meadowlands. It's possible he could be better than my other two." Next up is The Messenger. The son of SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE qualified a week ago Saturday and will be seen next this Saturday at The Big M in the 7th race from post 7. Doesn't have all that much on his card this year to brag about, but that's the situation with a handful in this division, given the pandemic pitfalls. Burke: "We're looking for a good race. We want to get a feel for where's he at. I think he's getting better but I'm glad I have a couple more weeks [to prepare for The Pace]." Last Race: 6/5 | M1 | Qualifier | 3rd (1:49.2)

Makes his debut in The Road on the strength of a sub-1:50 win in the Poconos and a lifetime record of nine wins from just 10 starts. Has 2 wins in 2 starts this year, including a speed score in The Reynolds at Yonkers. His trainer is understandably upbeat when speaking of his son of AMERICAN IDEAL. Alexander: "He's come back this year very well. But this year has been tough, the pandemic totally screwed up everybody's schedule. But my horse is good on any size track, so The Messenger will be next for us." Last Race: 6/12 | PcD | Non-winners of $12,500L5 | 1st (1:49.4)

Alagna: "If we are happy with the way he gets around the track, he'll go in The Messenger [Eliminations] on the 25th." Does racing in The Messenger put his Meadowlands Pace bid at risk? "Everything's a risk," said Alagna. "You just have to make the best, informed decisions you can." Last Race: 5/30 | Phl | Pennsylvania Sire Stakes | 1st (1:51.1)

Sent a loud message to the division Saturday morning when the ALWAYS B MIKI product qualified in an eye-popping 1:48.4 to establish a lifetime best. Bumps up a spot from no. 4 to no. 3. Displayed a final surge nearing the wire to win at Pocono in 1:50.3. If he wasn't a major Pace player before, he certainly is now. Alagna: "He raced great first-over and was very game. He came out of the race well and has a great work ethic. We will be at [Harrah's Philadelphia] next week."

Makes his debut in the poll at no. 5. During 2020, he barely made a ripple in the water, winning once from 5 starts and earning $16,798. This year has been a different story: 4 wins from 5 starts, the last two at Pocono in the PA. All-Stars and PA. Sire Stakes (beating SOUTHWIND GENDRY), respectively. Has he exceeded your expectations? Takter: "He has not. We had to remove a chip from his ankle last year and had to play catch up. He didn't have enough starts last year but also doesn't have those 1:49 and 1:50 miles on his card that others do. I say they only have so many of those in them."

Hangs onto the seventh spot in the top 10. Did not have an easy time of it, getting pressed by DOJEA GIZMO who won earlier this year at the Meadowlands in 1:50 before powering clear in a conditioned event at Scioto, to remain perfect in two 2021 starts. Moore: "He looked reasonably impressive. I know we are not racing against the best but we are in the ballpark. He'll take the week off and then race in ohio again."

Drops a notch as we wait to see him race. Ohio standout has won three in a row at Miami Valley, the most recent by 7 1/2 lengths at odds of 1-20, but that was 17 days ago. When will we see him locally? Burke: "If he trains well this week, we'll be ready in a week or two. Next week would be perfect, but I don't know if the Meadowlands will get him a race."

Hangs onto the second spot in the top 10. Failed to keep the pocket-sitting slight favorite (both were 7-5) one eight hundred at bay at Pocono at the wire. Like PERFECT STING, tough to drop him off a solid try. Burke: "He really wasn't that good. He tied up a little bit and he got beat but he wasn't at his best. He'll be at [Harrah's Philadelphia] next week."

Made a big jump from no. 9 to no. 4 in the poll after his conquest of the previously unbeaten PERFECT STING. Now has won twice in impressive fashion from two starts this year. Alagna: "He raced phenomenally. He's much more of a big-track horse. He had a helluva resume heading into last year's Metro [where he finished sixth] but his year went downhill from there. He'll take this week off, then race next week at [Harrah's Philadelphia].

Drops three spots from no. 3. Made his second start of the year Sunday at Pocono and failed to impress for a second start. Burke: "I'm abandoning the 5/8ths-mile track. He just doesn't like it. He's going to get a couple of weeks off and then race at the Meadowlands."

The Steve Carter trainee drops three spots due only to his inactivity, and it-s getting close to go-time to get ready for the Pace. Carter: "He is going to race in the first part of June at Scioto in a non-winners of 8. Then, we are going to go to the Ohio Sire Stakes a week later. I would say his Pace elimination will be his first start at the Meadowlands."

Makes his debut in the rttmp as his last two starts earned him a spot in the top 10. He was a winner on may 1 at the Meadows and is off a third-place finish to EXPLOIT. Burke: "I was a little disappointed [with his performance]. He scoped terribly, 9 out of 10, so we are treating him this week. If he's on somebody's back, he's going by if he's good. He just didn't finish it off. That's not him. He'll be at [Harrah's Philadelphia] next week."

Cracked the top 10 after working out a perfect cover trip on the way to an easy victory in his seasonal debut in a lifetime-best 1:49.1 and will take on PERFECT STING on Sunday at Pocono from post 2. Was a good-looking, fast-closing third in 3YO debut last Saturday and is right back in Sunday at Pocono in the pass. He's drawn post 5 in race 8. Alagna: "You can say what you want about his 2020 season [where a majority of his earnings came in the metro in an upset]. I thought he was very good in his first start last week. With the postponement of the North America Cup, it makes it easier to race these horses in back-to-back weeks."

Like 6 others in the top 10, will be at Pocono Sunday, where he's drawn post 6 in race 12 in a division of the stallion stakes. Brown: "He raced ok [Friday]. I still wouldn't say I was happy with him. I made a little bridle change and he trained much better [Wednesday]. He doesn't have to win Sunday. I just want him to race well."

Finished 8th in his first outing of the year after leaving from post 9 in a division of the Pennsylvania all-stars. He's back in Sunday at Pocono in a division of the Stallion Stakes (race 11, post 7). Takter: "I knew that he would be a little pace compromised from that post and I didn't think he would be at his best because he had been a little sick. I dropped him into the stallion series this week for a little confidence."
